I try absolutely everything to avoid being asked that question.
Of course, every project is different and there may be the odd smaller job that we can oblige – just not that many.
Our approach is built on obsessing over the detail and focussing on the customer experience. To gather all the information we need to work this way means a close relationship with the customer and those involved in the project.
The more we talk and plan the better.
Speaking to a number of people helps with this process
- The person who provides us with details of existing services (addresses, MPANs, MPRNs, meter serial numbers)
- The person who meets us for site visits to help us understand the project better
- The person who can provide the technical information regarding what the development needs
- The person who owns the site and can talk about legals where necessary
- The person who will be taking the services from our termination points
- The person responsible for any preparatory work on site
There are more.
In addition to this, there is a body of work that takes place in the background to ensure that the project will be delivered as efficiently as possible
- Working with the networks to get a plan reflecting the best solution possible (usually involving A LOT of back and forth and our understanding of the industry)
- Pushing for schemes and incentives that will reduce the overall price of the works
- Looking at every element of the work and deciding if there are viable/cheaper/more efficient alternatives
This is before acceptance. Our involvement with the onsite team during the work itself ensures the best possible outcome.
In short, to be as effective as possible, we become part of your team. The quote we send out details the work that will be carried out and how much it will cost. The magic lies in how this is all carried out.
Hopefully this all makes sense. Ours is an all-encompassing service and pulling prices out of thin air is just not what we do.
