This customer profile is based on a number of existing relationships and serves to give an idea as to what
the benefits of working with Shadwick UC are.

DNA Construction are a Sheffield-based construction company who construct commercial buildings throughout the UK. In the 20 years since their inception, they have built supermarkets, business centres, care homes, leisure centres, and a whole host of other commercial properties. They have over 150 employees spread across management, site staff, operations, land, design and finance and have many high-profile customers who take on their developments once complete.
In recent years, they have found that many projects have been stalling as a result of delays in getting services to their projects. Such delays push back handover dates and can be very expensive. Not only this but they have seen a significant increase in the price they are paying for their utility connections.
Applying for and manging the utility connections are the responsibility of two members of staff who operate out of DNA’s headquarters. Due to other responsibilities, they are extremely busy and find applying to the networks frustrating and time consuming. They only ever approach the networks to carry out the work and do not have time to carry out detailed checks on quotes they receive.
In addition to this, they have often found the networks and their contractors hard to get hold of and instructions regarding onsite preparation have not always been clear. All this has led to delays and extra expense – and some very difficult conversations with their customers.
DNA Construction now work in partnership with Shadwick UC on all aspects of utility services to their projects. We understand the requirements of the project so well, we can work with a location plan, a site plan and loading information.
The quote we provide DNA with is clear and concise. As the projects are of a certain size, we have been able to reduce costs using our trusted delivery partners – the networks only carry out a small section of the work. The quote also details exactly what needs to be carried out on site and by when. We even provide photographs of completed onsite work to those carrying out the offsite work to prove site readiness.
In addition to the above, we work with the networks to get export agreements in place for PV solar equipment and use our in-house commercial energy broker to arrange the supply of electric meters and the supply contract.
DNA Construction’s developments are now always completed on time, cheaper than they were in the past and the staff previously tasked with dealing with the utilities are now able to perform their other duties to a very high standard.
As we have several projects on the go at one time, we have a weekly catch up to discuss progress and answer any questions DNA might have.
