OFFICE CONVERSION TO RESIDENTIAL, HULL

Overview

We were asked to coordinate the utility disconnection and new connections at this development in the centre of Hull. The existing building had existing electric and water connections that were not sufficient for the 30+ dwellings which were to be created. Our job was to facilitate the disconnections of the existing supply and consult with the customer to ensure the new apartment block had sufficient power and water.

Electric and Water Disconnection Work

This development was initially two office blocks which stood side by side and were to come together to create the new, modern apartment complex. We identified the supplies going into each building and liaised with the relevant networks to get them disconnected – one electric supply was kept live during the period of the build. As this was a busy part of the city, all permits and elaborate traffic management were required.

New electric supply – 32x Single-phase 18kVA Connections

We decided that installing a bulk electric supply into a Bemco unit located in a designated meter room was the way to go here. Due to changes in the configuration of the building we had to undergo several redesigns to the electric connection to ensure it suited all parties.

New water supply – 63mm Bulk Supply

We were tasked with finding space within the development to site 4 x 8-way manifolds to split the supply. A lack of space in the street meant that we also had to accommodate the meter within the boundary of the property.
